Bastak is surrounded by mountains. The highest of these mountains is to north and is called Gavbast mountain. It stands at 2500 meters above sea level. The summit of this mountain is called salty summit because it covered in salt .Unlike Bastak, which is very hot, the summit of this mountain is cold and there is possibility of snow.
In some part of Gavbast mountain are ancient drawings of nomad people hunting. Until this day these drawings have not been studied and the date of them is uncertain.
Other mountains near Bastak are the Hormozan and Tangopee, which stand at 2400 meters above sea level. These are the only place where fresh water can be found, as the rivers in the area are all salt water.
There are also some mineral water springs in Bastak, the Fatooyeh spring and Fariab-e Sangooyeh spring, Todrooyeh spring.
To the north of Bastak is Lar city and to the south is Lengeh port and the west by Lamerd town and the villages of Tarakomeh, Galedar and Ashkanan.

There are four main groups of people in Bastak. First of all are the native inhabitants, then there are the Baniabbasi Sheikhs and khans (tribal chiefs). The third group identifiable in Bastak are the Sadat. These people are descendants of the prophet Mohammad. Finally, there are some people who have immigrated to Iran from other areas.
